Friends of Thringstone

‘Moving South' is a short version of a 30 minute video produced by the ‘Friends of Thringstone’. The video is about men and women from Scotland who moved to Thringstone in the 1960s to fill vacancies at the local coal mines. While the transition from north to south was smooth for some, others found it more difficult, although all have now settled happily in the Thringstone area. The interviews were conducted at the Thringstone Members Club by Nita Pearson and ‘Moving South’ was edited by Gillian Squires, Balwinder Bahia, and Ann Petty.

The Friends of Thringstone are a friendly group that meet regularly. The group aim to improve the environment of Thringstone and to preserve and promote its history for the benefit of residents and visitors.
