From Kampala to Leicester

'From Kampala to Leicester' is the name of a project which ran through 2012 and commemorated 40 years since Ugandan Asians were expelled from Uganda by Idi Amin and arrived in the UK and Leicester. The video gives a flavour of the experiences people went through when they were forced to leave Uganda at short notice and travel in hope to a new country.

The project was run by Leicester City Museums and the video for 'Migration Stories', made using volunteer interviewers, was created as part of this project. There were events through 2012 and the interviews, documents and objects collected during the year will be archived for posterity. At the end of 2012 there were plans to create a permanent exhibition in one of the City's museums.
